150 Afghan Schoolgirls Poisoned
About 150 Afghan schoolgirls were poisoned on Tuesday in what officials said they are “100 percent sure” is the result of the girls’ drinking water that was contaminated as a deliberate attack on girls’ education. Officials said they knew the water had been poisoned because a larger tank used to fill the affected water jugs was not contaminated. The girls suffered from headaches and vomiting, and some were hospitalized and in critical condition.
