Ireland To Clarify Law On Abortion When Mother’s Life Is At Risk

Ireland’s government has announced its intention to introduce a new law and regulations to clarify that abortions are legal when the life of the mother is at risk. The announcement follows the controversial death of a recently immigrated Indian-born dentist, who died from blood poisoning after her request for an abortion was denied. Her death caused outrage across the world and prompted an investigation by an expert group on abortion on behalf of the European Court on Human Rights.
