Steve Harvey knew that Marjorie Harvey was the woman of his dreams. The two of them crossed paths for the first time at a comedy club in the year 1990 and they dated for a short time. For those of you who are unaware, let us tell you, the Family Feud host and Marjorie met each other for the first time at a comedy club in 1990. At that time, Steve was performing at a club in Memphis, Tennessee. However, the couple didn’t exchange their vows until 2007. The pair recalled their first meeting during a 2018 episode of Steve’s talk show, The Steve Harvey Show.
Then, Marjorie said, “I was late, and I thought he was gonna give me the business because he got real quiet. He was just staring at me. I thought I was going to become part of the show.’ He finally realized, ‘Oh, I gotta say something.’ He was, like, ‘Oh, I’m sorry. I don’t know who this is, but I’m gonna marry her.’ ”
They hit it off instantly, however, they decided to go their separate ways after a few weeks of dating. In a 2014 interview with Essence, Marjorie talked about the early days of their relationship. She told the media outlet, “I knew he was The One shortly after I started [dating] him…but then he just left. Disappeared.”
On the other hand, Steve mentioned that at that point in his life, he was not in a good place financially and his only focus was on his career. He told the publication, “Before a man can be of use to a woman…he’s got to know who he is, what he does and how much he’s going to make.” More than a decade after their first meeting, the pair reconnected in 2005 and this time, the stars aligned for these two. Then, Steve’s second marriage to Mary Shackelford had just come to an end. In addition to this, he was fresh off his sitcom The Steve Harvey Show.
Steve’s bodyguard played a big role in the pair’s reunion
Yeah, you read that right. When Steve was single in the year 2005, his bodyguard advised him to reconnect with Marjorie. In 2016, he recalled to People magazine, “He told me, ‘Look, the only time I’ve ever seen you happy was when you were with that woman Marjorie. Now, before you go and do something stupid and marry another woman, I’m calling her.’ ”
Harvey put some light on the second chance and went on to say, “It was like being reborn. I messed up so many times in my life. She made all the difference. When you’re happy at home, you can make a lot of things happen.” Marjorie chimed in, “When Steve came back into my life, it was effortless.”

Together, Steve and Marjorie have seven children who make one large blended family. The American television host has three children from his first marriage with his wife Marcia Harvey, twin daughters Brandi and Karli, and son Broderick. One program under the foundation is Marjorie Harvey’s Girls Who Rule the World, which helps young girls to develop positive self-esteem and succeed in their education through mentoring and other resources. Marjorie has a great sense of fashion and style. She is very passionate about fashion which is something she and Steve have in common. So I was on vacation, so I didn’t dye it and the rest of it started growing in.”
The famed talk show host went on to say, “And next thing I knew I went, ‘Damn. This is either going to be sexy or I’m ugly as hell one of the two.’ ” Then, he also revealed his wife Marjorie’s reaction to his greying hair and continued, “My wife told me to keep it.”
Marjorie supported her husband Steve during his Miss Universe debacle
In the year 2015, while serving as the host of the Miss Universe pageant, Steve accidentally announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez as the winner, when it was Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach who had actually won the beauty contest. Back in the day, he misread his cue card.
After the show, Harvey told the reporters, “I feel horrible for the two countries. I feel horrible for the fans. It was a mistake. The dishonorable thing would be to just leave it like it was. It didn’t deserve to happen that way, but it happened from an honest mistake.”
Then, Marjorie offered her husband support after the Miss Universe flux. At that point, she took to her Instagram profile and wrote, “You are a Stand Up Man and A True Class Act the way you went back out on the stage on live TV and took full responsibility alone.
