About Forward Together
Forward Together is a multi-racial organization that works with community leaders and organizations to transform culture and policy to catalyze social change. Their mission is to ensure that women, youth and families have the power and resources they need to reach their full potential by developing strong leaders, building networks across communities, and implementing innovative campaigns.
Programs
Forward Together leads grassroots actions and trains community leaders to transform policy and culture in ways that support individuals, families, and communities in reaching their full potential.
- Strong Families is their ten-year strategic policy initiative to redefine Family Values on their terms—valuing families as they are, not as the Right thinks they should be. Their goal is to shift culture and policy to align with what all of their families need: recognition, dignity, and the support to thrive.
- CORE Youth Organizing Program is a multigender group made up of their seasoned youth organizers. CORE leads the youth organizing campaign work that includes offering presentations and workshops, conducting surveys, analyzing data and making related recommendations, producing videos, talking to decision-makers to change laws that directly affect youth, and bringing together a diverse base of high-school-aged people in Oakland for social and political action.
- Forward Stance is a powerful way to learn and gain new insight through physical movement and by reconnecting our bodies with our minds. Forward Together uses Forward Stance in all aspects of our work, and also trains allied organizations in the practice to support their movement-building efforts.
