About the Human Development Foundation
HDF empowers women and girls in Pakistan through their programs. The cornerstone of HDF’s efforts is their commitment to working directly with communities through their social mobilization program. In this, HDF facilitates the formation of democratic community organizations which empower individuals to have a say in the decisions that affect them. Over 10,000 women are leaders in their Village Development Organization. Through the Education & Literacy program, HDF has established 14 elementary and secondary schools for girls. In addition, the Primary Health Care program provides preventative and curative health care for women and girls through health education, immunizations, and treatment facilities. Over 8,000 women received adult literacy courses and Community Management Skills Training. HDF has facilitated 6,700 females to acquire skills that can help women earn a living within their local environment. HDF’s Health program is mother and child focused: medical camps, health seminars, training birth attendants, perinatal care; it helps over 85,000 women every year. HDF’s Sustainable Environment projects have benefited 54,149 women to date through various community physical infrastructure projects.
Within each area of focus, their mission remains the same: empower communities and individuals with the tools and resources needed to achieve and sustain a better way of life. At HDF, they believe everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity and have the opportunity to succeed.
Presently, HDF is operating in 17 districts in all four provinces of Pakistan and AJK including Mardan, Swat, Tando Mohammed Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Zhob, Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Attock, Bahawalpur and Muzzafarabad.
The total number of beneficiaries in the foundation’s primary and secondary service areas exceeds 500,000.
