About the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance

The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance is the foremost advocate for women with ovarian cancer in the United States. To advance the interests of women with ovarian cancer, the Alliance advocates at a national level for increases in research funding for the development of an early detection test, improved health care practices and life-saving treatment protocols. The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance educates health care professionals and raises public awareness of the risks and symptoms of ovarian cancer.

History

In 1997, the leaders of five disparate ovarian cancer organizations met for the first time, thanks to two national events: the launch of the Department of Defense Ovarian Cancer Research Program and a town hall meeting convened by the group Ovar’coming Together. These meetings inspired the leaders to form the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, an organization that would advance the interests of women with ovarian cancer. Our founders envisioned an organization that would serve as a focal point for women with ovarian cancer, providing support, resources and education.
